Old Time Radio - Comedy - Gleason and Armstrong

James Austin Gleason (* 23. Mai 1882 in New York City, New York; † 12. April 1959 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien); Robert William Armstrong (* 20. November 1890 in Saginaw, Michigan; † 20. April 1973 in Santa Monica, Kalifornien). Their work on the Stage and in Film, Radio and Television dated as early as the 1920s, with Gleason’s first success, the Broadway show Is Zat so? in 1925, Later, Gleason and Armstrong each appeared in well over 100 movies. Armstrong’s career was solidly set as an actor in the film industry but Gleason’s was much more diverse, included acting, writing, directing, and producing. First airing in 1931, Gleason and Armstrong's comedy serial Knights of the Road underscored their comedic talents as both a team and as highly successful actors in their own right.
